- Interfaces:
Whenever the term "Interface" is used on this website
(or in the computer world in general) it refers to connecting two
programs that normally won't share information and making a bridge
over which they can communicate. Chase Information Systems, Inc.
(CIS) began as a consulting firm which specialized in creating interfaces
between disparate computer programs. As a first project, CIS created
an interface for a price list created in Excel to be read into a
sales program which was programmed using Visual Basic and MS Access.
Not all programs can have an interface built, but often CIS is able
to create an interface by connecting with the program's creator.
At times programs that are built in certain applications (like MS
Office Pro) can be connected to share information (i.e., "interfaced")
without speaking to the original creator. While other times, it
is imperative to speak with the program's creator in order to be
able to create an interface.
For instance, Chase Information Systems, Inc. has created an interface
between the CIS Veteran Club Membership
Management software and the Keyless
Door Entry System that CIS offers as an option. Normally if
a Veteran Club has a sophisticated Door Entry System and a Membership
system of some sort, the two are disparate and the members must
all be entered into both systems. With the CIS interface between
the two systems, members entered into the CIS Membership
Management software are shared with the Keyless
Door Entry System seamlessly (i.e., without having to enter
each member into both).

- Custom Applications:
A Custom Application or Custom Program
is a computer program that you design. Programming is a discipline
that has many cross-parallels, meaning what works well in one program
works just as well in another program. Therefore our programming
specialists have had experiences with other custom programs, and
these experiences lend themselves over to other custom programs
(i.e., CIS can greatly aid and direct you in your "design"
ideas).
A Custom Application is a computer program that is tailored exactly
as you desire. Normally when you buy a "prepackaged" software
program, you only get what the software's programmers give you -
you do not "design" the package. At times "prepackaged"
or off-the-shelf programs are an excellent solution, while at other
times a custom program is the best solution. (At at even other times,
a "prepackaged" system is a start, and then an "interface"
- as described above - completes what you need.)

Possibilities
- "Prepackaged" Applications:
A Custom Application or Custom Program that ends up "filling
the gap" for a niche market becomes a candidate for becoming
a "prepackaged" software program. Such was the case with
the Membership Management
system from CIS. However, with a "prepackaged" system
from CIS we allow our customers to make suggestions of features
that want added in. Sometimes we add the feature into an upgrade,
at other times we only add the feature to their system.
We currently have two other "prepackaged" software systems
in the making. One is for Summer Camps and is a web-based program
(called an "ASP Program"). Whereas the other is for Debt
Arbitration Specialists. Both are due out by the end of the first
quarter 2003.
As for other programs that you are currently using, but unhappy
with some of the results, maybe CIS could create an interface and
a custom program to build you exactly what you need and want. For
instance, say that your Point-Of-Sale system doesn't give you a
Membership Management features you'd like (for example, let's say
in a Country Club). Chase Information Systems, Inc. could build
a custom Membership Management system for you, and an interface
with the POS system to share information (like maybe "member
credit").
